Developing goals, strategies, and actions aim to provide the director, administrative staff, and standing committees with broad input on the direction of our future activities.

In 2022, the center conducted a “goals and action” planning exercise to reveal our greatest needs in the realms in which we work and that our work has impact. Domains of our work were identified as: center administration; facilities; research; state relations; climate and belonging; and communications. Principal investigators (PIs) and administrative staff were assigned to each area and charged with developing survey questions that would lead to developing goals and action plans for the center. Surveys were distributed every two weeks and responses were anonymous. All feedback was downloaded and shared with the committee that developed the questions. Each committee synthesized responses and recommended goals at the PI & Administrative Staff meeting in October 2022.

From these syntheses, the director created a template of goals, strategies, and initiatives started in 2023 and 2024. In Fall 2024, committees revised and finalized goals and strategies, devised initiatives for the current year, and developed 5-year ambitions for each realm.
