Native Medicinal Plant Garden

The 5-acre research garden site was established in 2010 through as part of the Native Medicinal Plant Research Program, on land held by KU Endowment near the Lawrence Municipal Airport. Because of its location just north of Highway 24/40, south of the northern contiguous tracts and fronting East 1600 Road, it is highly visible and accessible, and it serves as a gateway to the northern tracts. The garden site draws hundreds of visitors each year. It includes a demonstration garden of native plants, the KU Student Community Garden, and various ongoing studies. The site is is open dawn to dusk every day, and public tours are held twice a year, in summer and fall. Learn more about the garden on the program's website.
