Michelle is a community ecologist focused on studying human impacts on macroinvertebrates in rivers and streams and how changes to community compositions alter stream dynamics and services. Her Ph.D. work at the University of Oklahoma focused on the nomenclature of drying streams, drying and wetting patterns on assemblages, climate change impacts on fish, and the influence of dam management practices on invertebrate communities. Michelle's current work focuses on drivers of macroinvertebrate assemblage dynamics in non-perennial rivers, taking an interdisciplinary approach to better understand the interactions between hydrology, biogeochemsitry, and ecology.
