Research support 2025

Full 2025 Annual Report coming soon
Our research mission is accomplished by the efforts of 20 scientists, research professors and associate/senior researchers who seek external funding to support postdoctoral researchers, technicians and students.
In 2025, these investigators worked on 65 externally funded research grants, published 53 articles in peer-reviewed journals and added three Kansas Biological Survey reports to our series, which now totals 223. Researchers also publish some findings as maps, databases and other forms shared on our own websites and other scientific websites.
Some of our current research projects include:
- studies of soil fungi and plant drought stress;
- monitoring harmful algal blooms in Kansas reservoirs;
- grassland restoration;
- belowground plant-microbe networks;
- development of the Kansas Real-Time Flood Mapping Tool;
- monitoring sediment and water quality during Water Injection Dredging in Tuttle Creek Reservoir;
- AI-based crop analytics and yield forecasting;
- GIS and remote sensing support services for the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife and Parks wildlife division.
