Scientists team up to create engaging remote sensing lessons for K-12
In this episode of the Spatial Signals podcast, Dana Peterson of the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing Program and colleagues from three other universities discuss remote sensing and imagery tools they're developing for use in K-12 classrooms—including education-ready digital toolkits, state level landcover maps, digital state atlases, and lesson plans using maps and data in a variety of applications. They talk about the challenges of incorporating geospatial technologies into a K-12 curriculum, supporting new teachers, curriculum insertion points, removing the software barriers and web applications, and much more.
