Research Summary:

The Central Plains Center for BioAssessment (CPCB) monitored two sites on the Wakarusa River for the City of Lawrence, Kansas (City) upstream and downstream from the proposed wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) site in Douglas County. In 2013 and 2014 prior to the WWTP being built we monitored water chemistry monthly and aquatic macroinvertebrates once during each season of spring, summer, and fall. Water samples were analyzed for nutrients, non-metals, and other constituents. Data collected by CPCB were analyzed using common descriptive, graphical, and statistical methods. The follow-up study was in 2020-2021.
