Data catalog

This catalog describes data and information derived from the KU Field Station. These include datasets (electronic or paper form), photographs, maps, biological specimens, and various written materials. Some materials can be made available for research and education. Please contact W. Dean Kettle (kettle@ku.edu) for more information.

Location is provided when the record relates to a specific KU Field Station tract. Abbreviations used in this field are as follows:

Anderson County Prairie Preserve: Mead's milkweed (Asclepias meadii) survey on permanent transects in hay meadows Mead's milkweed stems counted in a 4 m-wide belt on transects. Anderson County Prairie Preserve: Plant species lists by management Unit (2004) Species lists were compiled for most of the individual management units at the Anderson County Prairie Preserve (Welda Prarie) in July 2004. Anderson County Prairie Preserve: Prescribed grazing plan for cattle on pastures (NRCS, 2007) In 2007, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) personnel David Kraft and Doug Spencer wrote a prescribed grazing plan for pastures at the Anderson County Prairie Preserve. Anderson County Prairie Preserve: Regal fritillary butterfly counts (Busby, 2008) In June 2008, W.H. Busby did counts of Regal Fritillary butterflies. Small data set. Anderson County Prairie Preserve: Repeat photography (2006, 2009) This dataset contains 265 digital photos taken from 63 georeferenced points on the Anderson County Prairie Preserve. The dataset will be used to evaluate the efficacy of management activities (e.g., burning, grazing, and haying). ACPP V. Salisbury

Ear-leaf foxglove (Agalinis auriculata) monitoring 1990-2013 Ear-leaf foxglove (Agalinis auriculata) was found on the KU Field Station in a degraded prairie and adjacent oldfield in 1990. Fitch Archives - photographs of fauna at Reservation taken 1948-1951 (136 images, 35mm black and white format). HS Fitch took 136 photographs of animals and associated features (e.g., nests) from 1948-1951. The black&white negatives were made into 3x5 inch prints about 1994 and cataloged in a database.
